The importance of Genres

A very important consideration for all authors is what genre does your book fall into?

I recommend visiting a book store to make a note of the genres as listed on the shelves.

Which one will your book fall into?

If you can’t categorise it, then the book store manager will not know where to put the book, so it might end up getting lost on a shelf where it doesn’t belong.

My company published a series of novels by one author which was categorized as Visionary Fiction. Most book shops don’t have a genre like that so her books generally ended up in Fantasy or Science Fiction, neither of which is correct.

Visit several bookshops if possible because every book shop caters to a different market.

Take a note of how many books are on each of these shelves to get an idea of your competition and the popularity of the genre.

While you are there do have a critical look at aspects like cover design and how the books are laid out.

As usual, there are trends and fashions in book design. Also bear in mind that design styles are different for every country. In the USA the popular trend has been for covers featuring fancy graphics and fonts with a small but impactful image on the front cover. whereas the UK and Europe are generally more conservative.

The United States market remains huge and very important so their influence has to be taken into account.

Publishing advice

Free assessment of your manuscript

Why not submit your work to me for a free assessment? I have thirty years of experience in publishing and am thus very qualified to guide you to get the best for your book. This is my way of giving back to authors who have been so supportive over the years. During that time my partner and I have also come across many Tragic Tales of authors who have sometimes spent a lot of money to get a box of books that remain just that. Their title gets no exposure whatsoever.

The whole world of publishing has changed dramatically in the last ten years as you can imagine. I will be publishing a series of blogs in the coming weeks about the world of modern publishing, how to avoid pitfalls and give your book the best chance of success in its life. Your writing is your creation, your baby if you will, so you do want it to succeed don’t you?

Check out my website

Please keep an eye out for upcoming posts. I can assure you that you will learn a lot. Getting informed about the many options out there will be most helpful.

Kima Books are Moving!

We are thrilled to tell you that we have now merged with ePublishify and Kima Global will become an imprint on their list. We will still be handling all the author contact and communications, while ePublishify will handle all the administration, sales, distribution and marketing.

Recent illness has necessitated that I curtail my publishing activities and this new arrangement will allow me to maintain contact with you all, to continue to offer my extensive experience in publishing to address any questions you may have and to assess new manuscripts as and when they get submitted.

We are excited about this development. It will mean good results for all of us.

The Kima Global titles will migrate to ePublishify gradually over the next few months and we expect the titles to be fully migrated by January 2022. If you have any questions please contact me or Nadine. – Robin

A fresh approach for 2022

As a service to my readers, I have decided to publish articles (and sometimes extracts from existing published books), which I hope inspires you and raises your spirits. This is something sorely needed at this time when we are faced with a tide of fear porn. It remains critically important to maintain your inner balance. while still sifting through the fake news for the truth. Yes indeed, the truth shall set you free, but only if you maintain sanity and balance, unaffected by flattery or insult.

Our first contribution in this series is David Ash, our brilliant and enlightened author from the UK.

The Meaning of Ascension

The language used in ancient times was a means of power and purpose as well as communication. It was the ancient language of living light. This universal language of light involved the projection of living information in quantum-like units intended to convey organic intelligence in concise yet comprehensive informational content.

This was the means by which the Kumaras – the princes – set up the living templates of organic life – DNA and RNA – which enabled the emergence of proteins and living cells. It was also the means by which arrow-like projectiles of immense power were used in the warfare described in the epic poem, the Mahabharata. The use of words of living light as words of power in warfare was a perversion of the original use of ‘the Word’ which led to the downfall of humanity.

Understanding ‘the Word’ in terms of individualised projections of intelligence as living light rather than atmospheric compressions – sound –  enables us to understand the first verse of John’s Gospel ‘In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God’. It also enables us to appreciate how the Word could become flesh and dwell amongst men.

Christ was an incarnation of Sananda Kumara, also known as Archangel Michael. He was an incarnation of the Word because the Kumaras – also known as the Elohim – were the projections of living light sent out from Unitary Consciousness to set up the templates of biological life throughout the Universe – including the watery planet Earth – from which evolution enabled the emergence of species.

Living modules of intelligence as modulated fields of light were projected from the Kumaras as ‘life fields’ of design that led to the formation and still uphold the differentiation of the living cells from which all life forms have evolved. These fractal projections have been described as Devas, Angels and elementals i.e. Michael and his ‘projected’ host of angels.

The informational projections of living light from Source Consciousness – God – described as the ‘Sons of God’ have the ability to merge back into Universal Consciousness after they have completed a mission until they emerge again on another. This return to Source has been called ‘ascension’

Ascension is an opportunity for us all because as souls we are sons and daughters of God. We are projections of living light from Source Consciousness, on a mission to Earth to assist in the evolution of Consciousness. We have the potential, on our ascension, to merge back into the Unity of Consciousness from which we came – our true home – until we choose to project ourselves into another adventure or on another mission.

While on ascension we may merge with Unitary Consciousness we do not lose our sovereign state of individuality and self-determination described as free will because at the ultimate source of our being, while we maintain our individuality we are forever Unitary Consciousness. We are like molecules of water that have emerged from an ocean to form raindrops to water the land. Now we are heading back in streams and rivers to the ocean again. Wherever we are, whether merged in the ocean or separated in raindrops, we never lose our identity as molecules of water. That is the nature of quantum reality that underlies the Universe: The whole is made up of the parts.

Big changes at Kima Books

Nadine and I have some big announcements to make.
As usual, there is bad news and good news. Let’s start with the worst first and get better from there.

Back in May of this year the professional typesetting and design program that I have been using for years gave up the ghost and despite all efforts by our technical people, could not be fixed. I do have the latest Indesign program which most typesetters use today, but it would be a steep learning curve for me to learn it, which I am not quite up to and not in the mood for. I have searched for teachers but without success. They are mostly focused on image design and know nothing about typesetting.

Then, in the first week of July this year Nadine and I were walking on the cat walk in Fish Hoek without rain gear when we got caught in an icy torrential downpour and were far from our car. I was frozen to the bone, but eventually we got home and warmed up. Shortly after that I became ill with what I thought was the flu and struggled for a few days.

However, I took two nasty falls, landing on my coccyx both times. Nadine dragged me back to bed both times. Shortly thereafter Nadine found me unconscious, called the paramedics who checked me out and found that my oxygen level was down to 74%. (death occurs at 72%). They summoned an ambulance and took me to our local False Bay Hospital. It was pneumonia, but they labeled it Covid.

To cut a long story short, I ended up spending 10 days in three different hospitals. The doctors definitely saved my life, but the conditions in the hospitals are appalling. Nadine rescued me from there by demanding that I be discharged which the doctors reluctantly agreed to. I came out so weak that I was unable to stand unaided and with bedsores. I have been recuperating under the wonderful care of Nadine and our local homeopathic doctor and now am able to spend a couple of hours a day in the office.

As a result of all this we have decided to make some big changes as to how we operate so as to reduce the work load. Circumstances demand it.

No more new physical books

  • We will no longer be accepting physical books for publication.
  • We are just beginning to have discussions with a European publisher who is keen to have Kima Global’s book list on their platform. If we are successful it will mean an extended life our book list. We will also be able to take on new titles. We see this as a very positive development.

List to be trimmed

  • We will be trimming down our listings for physical books on the international book shops catalog during the course of the next few months. Those books which have not sold a single copy in the previous six months will be cancelled from the list. Every listing costs us a catalogue fee so we cannot continue to pay this if we have no sales.  Local South African authors may still order copies from us.
  • If you have a new manuscript to offer we will gladly guide you through the self-publishing process. There will be no charge for our existing authors.

e-Books to continue

  • We will not be cancelling any e-book currently platformed.
  • We will continue to publish new e-books as and when the opportunity arises.

New web site

Our current web site does attract traffic, but it is not cell phone friendly.

  • We are going to be building a new site during the course of the next couple of months using a modern site builder and cart.
  • All the physical books currently active globally will be listed as well as all the e-books.
  • We are no longer distributing for overseas publishers, so we will be simplifying both the appearance and the way it works. There will no longer be a need to choose your country and currency. One list, one currency (probably USD since most of our sales are there.)

I will be posting another blog when it is live.

As I wrote, I do hope that you see these developments as an effort both to survive by cutting unrewarding expenses and to thrive by giving Kima Global a new face on the internet

May I close by wishing you all good health and sanity in these crazy and challenging times. We are still here to serve you, but now in a changed capacity.

Time to Awaken?

Many of our customers and supporters have done just this, but it seems that more souls are required to achieve the tipping point. Nadine and I were at a dinner party last night (a rare event for us). There were six at the table so one can say that it was a very small sample of society. Amongst them we had:

A corporate person who completely supports the MSM narrative that somehow POTUS Trump is evil and immoral for blocking free entry into the USA. I kindly pointed out that here property is surrounded by Palisade Fencing and she has a contract with an armed security company for full protection. A nation also has a right to choose who comes onto the property and to exclude undesirables.

One works for an NGO to uplift the poor, but seems to be driven by guilt, which IMHO destroys one’s chances of enlightenment.

One is a sports fanatic who has lost all hope that world circumstances might improve.

One is our yoga teacher who in many ways has opted in to traditional systems (especially education because she is a retired teacher), but has also begun to research and ask the big questions. She is also a fundamentally kind and good person and does not have fears.

That leaves Nadine and me (whom we consider well on the road to conscious awareness, having been into it since the late ’70s), but there is not a lot we can share with them without running the risk of being completely ostracised. However, we did “plant a few seeds” in the hope that something will trigger them to begin questioning things.

Does this mean that there is enough awareness in the world? At 45% it might be enough. What do you think? When did you last attend a dinner party? What was your experience?

AWAKEN!

Our author David Ash has launched a Patreon page to support his work. Contributions start at $2.00, but those who sign up for $10.00 or more will receive a free copy of his book Awaken or his super-food supplements to the same value. This is very worthwhile so please consider it. Click here

Earth Changes

The Persian prophet Zarathustra spoke of:

“…signs, wonders and perplexity which are manifest on the Earth at the end of each age.”

The Chinese call the perish of ages ‘Kis’ and number, ten Kis from the beginning of their known world until Confucius. In the ancient Chinese encyclopedia, ‘Sing-li-ta-tsiuen-chou’ the general convulsions of nature are discussed. Because of the periodicity of these convulsions the Chinese regard the span of time between two catastrophes as a ‘great year’. As during a year, so during a world age, the cosmic mechanism winds itself up and:

“…in a general convulsion of nature, the sea is carried out of its bed, mountains spring out of the ground, rivers change their course, human beings and everything is ruined, and the ancient traces effaced.”

An ancient tradition of world ages ending in catastrophe is persistent in the Americas amongst the Incas, the Aztecs and the Maya. The Maya have a Long Count between global catastrophes similar to the Chinese Great Year.

In her book Approaching Chaos on global catastrophes in ancient times, Lucy Wyatt suggested a date for Noah’s Deluge as seventy nine years after the beginning of the Long Count, which ended in 2012. Her research indicated that cataclysms occur close to the target date of a Long Count, or a Great Year rather than on it. That would fit with the principle in science of margin of errors. In a cycle of global cataclysms that are millennia apart, one would expect a cataclysmic event to occur sometime within a margin of a few decades of a predicted date.

The Maya described each age ending with earthquakes at the solstice. The Maya reference to a worldwide catastrophe of global earthquakes at the solstice supports the Hapgood model of crust slips being related to the accumulation of ice on the poles. According to my model the difference in gravitational pull from the sun on the ice on the poles, due to the 23.5° list of the Earth on its axis, would cause a floating crust, during a period of global warming, to be most prone to rolling over at the solstice. The greatest likelihood would be December 21st as that would be when the ice on the Antarctic would experience the strongest gravitational pull from the sun. Hapgood pointed out that ice accumulating on a land mass was more prone to cause a crust shift than ice floating on the sea. The Maya prediction fits the science.

Historical records from every continent report that the world has fallen over the poles at least four times in the memory of mankind. A major part of stone inscriptions found in the Yucatan refer to this type of world catastrophe. The most ancient of these katun calendar stones of Yucatan refer to great catastrophes, at repeated intervals, convulsing the American continent. The indigenous nations of the Americas have a preserved memory of these ancient historical events. In the chronicles of the Mexican kingdom it was written:

“The ancients knew that before the present sky and earth were formed, man was already created and life had manifested itself four times.”

The sacred Hindu books, the Ezour Vedam and the Bhaga Vedam share the scheme of expired ages known as Yugas, the fourth being the present. They differ only in the time ascribed to each age. The Buddhist text Visuddhi-Magga also describes seven ages, each terminated by world catastrophes.

A tradition of successive creations and catastrophes is found in Hawaii. On the islands of Polynesia there were nine ages recorded and in each age a different sky was above the Earth. Icelanders believed that nine worlds went down in a succession of ages, a tradition contained in the Mavarian text Edda.
